Mama Sana Life

I’m Julie. A 28 year old mama, daughter, sister, friend, and lover. Actor turned pre-Med and environmental science student. Big city dweller to small town settler. Certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. “Mama sana” means “healthy mama”; Mama Sana Life is a healthy lifestyle blog for all mamas. It’s helpful, inspiring, and most of all, attainable. 

Group Fitness

 I love it. I don’t say that because I am a group fitness instructor, in fact I am a group fitness instructor BECAUSE of my love for group fitness. Before I’d started taking group fitness classes, I’d tried everything from jogging to workout videos, but nothing kept me motivated enough to commit to a regimen and quite frankly, I was getting bored. Sure, I’d do it, but I’d be dragging my feet the whole time and it was so easy to slack…too easy. 

When I finally found myself in a group fitness class, a cardio/strength class to be exact, I felt that push. That “you can do it, don’t give up, we’re right here with ya’!” push! Woah! This was just what I NEEDED! Initially, I was afraid I’d be too out of shape, everyone would be looking at me and I’d be embarrassed; that voice of insecurity that scares us back into our comfort zone really tried it with me, but I didn’t listen to it. I took that class, no one was looking at me, I kicked butt, and I felt empowered! 

If you are looking for accountability, variety, and guidance, I encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone, and try a group fitness class. There is such a vast array of different kinds of classes. From a spin class to yoga to step, there is something for everyone. The friendships and motivation I’ve experienced, alone, are worth it. Not to mention, I’m in the best shape of my life because I actually look forward to working out with my people! Try it out, you just might love it!
